Because sometimes making money just isn’t leaving you happy. Do you want to know “How to create a meaningful AND profitable marketing strategy”? It starts with:
meaningful AND profitable goals.
Truthbomb (and one of my favorite quotes):
“A goal properly set is a goal halfway reached.” – Zig Ziglar.
Let that sink in for a second… You can be HALFWAY to reaching your goal just by setting it properly. Crazy, huh? That’s why today, we’re talking about just how to do that “correctly” today.
I’m not one for rules (and man there are like a zillion blog posts about goal setting already out on the web!) BUT I do have a few guidelines.
My goal setting guide lines have helped me to:
- Realize that business goals are just as much personal goals when you’re on a mission or feel “called”.
- The personal side needs to be included in the goal setting or you won’t enjoy what you’re doing and you’ll end up burying your gifts & talent instead of sharing them with the world.
- That there’s a difference between how much I sold versus how much showed up in my piggy bank
And how to turn all that into a meaningful, profitable goal setting guide so I can rinse and repeat each month. And today, I’m sharing all I know with you because I whole-heartedly believe you can’t run you biz without connecting to your “why” and learning the “point” of every marketing task you take on.
First, let’s breakdown goal setting: (The single most important thing you can do before formulating your marketing strategy!)
Goal setting is “the process of deciding what you want to accomplish and making a plan for how to achieve the results you want.”
So start off by asking yourself “What do you want?” for your business. Start with something basic like how much money do you want to make. You’re here for greater profitability after all, right?
Save items like ‘I want to work part time.’ or “I want to launch a new product’ for goals to add on after you tackle your piggy bank goals first.
Next, fine tune those goals with the timeless SMART goal method.
Classic marketing nerd alert I know, but trust me- they haven’t steered me wrong yet. By setting specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and time-based goals it forces you to be very specific about what you want.
I mean, if you said “more money” and you earned $1 more than last month, you might not be too happy, am I right? So make sure your goal is S.M.A.R.T.: specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and time-based.
Lastly, write down that goal. Like pen to paper…none of that adding to your iphone notepad stuff that you never look at again.
Did you know statistics show that people who write down their goals are 80% more likely to achieve them? Some even say those who write them down are 2-3x more likely to achieve them. And if that’s not enough to get you to actually write them down, I’ll leave you with this food for thought from guy genius Antoine de Saint -xupery.
Boom. And hey, you know with a name that fancy it can’t be wrong 😉
So let’s get you a meaningful, profitable marketing strategy, ok?
I’m all about accountability, so I’m giving you one more reason not to make an excuse to write it down today…I’m giving you my workbook for meaningful, profitable goal setting setting today so you can print it out and WRITE it down.
